Sono state annunciate le nomination dell'edizione 2016 dei Critics' Choice Awards e il musical La La Land ha dominato le varie categorie arrivando a quota ben 12 potenziali premi, tra cui quelli come Miglior Film, Miglior Regista, Miglior Attore e Miglior Attrice.

Alle spalle del film diretto da Damien Chazelle ci sono Arrival di Denis Villeneuve e Moonlight del regista Barry Jenkins.
In corsa per il titolo di Miglior Film dell'anno ci sono anche Barriere, La battaglia di Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Lion - La strada verso casa, Loving, Manchester by the Sea e Sully.
