I Critics' Choice Awards verranno consegnati il 24 gennaio, durante una cerimonia che si svolgerà il 13 gennaio in diretta su The CW, e a guidare le nomination, con ben 14 candidature è il film La Favorita, diretto da Yorgos Lanthimos, seguito un po' inaspettatamente da Black Panther e First Man - Il Primo Uomo, arrivati a quota 12 e 10 nomination.
Tra gli altri lungometraggi in corsa per il prestigioso riconoscimento ci sono anche A Star Is Born, Vice - L'uomo nell'ombra con il camaleontico Christian Bale, Il ritorno di Mary Poppins e il film indipendente Eighth Grade.
Per quanto riguarda le serie tv, invece, a guidare con cinque candidature sono The Americans, The Assassination of Gianni Veesace ed Escape at Dannemora grazie alle interpretazioni del suo cast.
This Is Us, invece, è rimasto escluso dalla corsa per il titolo di Miglior Serie Drammatica, come accaduto anche a The Handmaid's Tale.
